How are Mattresses Recycled?

Did you know that up to 75% of a mattress can be recycled? Our partner Bye Bye Mattress will break down your mattress into separate materials like foam, cotton, wood, and steel. These materials are then recycled into new products like insulation, carpet padding, landscaping mulch, and more!

Please note that Habitat ReStore only accepts mattresses for recycling. We cannot accept mattresses as donations, and all mattresses sold in store are brand-new.

Why Recycle?

Over 50,000 mattresses are discarded in the U.S. every day. At Habitat ReStore, we're committed to reducing landfill waste and making sustainable choices easy and accessible to everyone. By offering convenient mattress recycling, we're not just saving mattresses from landfills. When your old mattress is recycled into new products, you're helping to reduce greenhouse gases, conserve energy, and save water!
