What Does ReStore Accept?
Donation Criteria
All items must be new or gently used in excellent working condition. Items must be ready to sell as-is, with no damage, stains, or missing pieces. Acceptability is at the discretion of ReStore staff pending in-person review of items.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Recycling at ReStore
Mattresses and paint cannot be accepted as donations. However, they can be recycled at ReStore Oakland during regular donation drop-off hours. Additionally, hazardous waste such as batteries, fluorescent lights, and aerosols can be disposed of at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, located right next to ReStore San Jose, in the San Jose Environmental Innovation Center

Donations to ReStore are resold to the public to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity. This supports Habitat’s work to create more housing opportunity in the Bay Area through building, preservation, and education. Learn more about Habitat’s current projects here.

Donors may be eligible for tax credits for the value of their donations. And, as part of Habitat for Humanity, a registered nonprofit, ReStore can provide the necessary paperwork. See our Business Partnerships page to learn more.

ReStore offers hassle-free solutions to help local businesses manage overstock, returns, display models, liquidation, and more. By donating to ReStore, your business can sustainably offload excess inventory while supporting local affordable housing. ReStore will pick up your donation right from your businesses for FREE, and you may be eligible for significant tax credits!
