ReStore ReCycling & ReUse Drive

Everyday, Habitat ReStores reduce the amount of quality, usable home goods in landfills by giving them a second life in a new home. But what about the many reusable or recyclable materials we can’t accept for resale? Where can you recycle paint, fabrics, or your college laptop?

This Earth Month, ReStore is hosting a ReCycling & ReUse Drive in partnership with Tech Exchange, PaintCare, and USAgain!

On April 26th & 27th – for two days only – you can drop off old computers & accessories, leftover paint, and gently used clothes, shoes, and household textiles at our ReStore locations in Concord, San Jose, and Oakland.

If saving these materials from landfill isn’t enough of a reward, you’ll get a 15% OFF* ReStore coupon for dropping off items for recycling, and enjoy 35% OFF donated items during the drive! See below for more details on what items we’re able to accept, and to learn more about our amazing partners in sustainability!

Computer & Tech Accessory ReUse with Tech Exchange

ReStore is proud to partner with Tech Exchange, a local Bay Area non-profit that works to ensure that all families have a computer, Internet access, and technology skills necessary to improve and enhance their lives. For nearly 30 years, Tech Exchange has provided free or low-cost refurbished computers and digital literacy training to low-income families and supported schools’ and community centers’ technology needs. Plus, Tech Exchange is hosting an Earth Month giveaway where you can enter to win a free refurbished 2016/2017 MacBook Air laptop! Click here to enter!

Paint ReCycling with PaintCare

ReStore Oakland recycles paint through our partner PaintCare all year long, and we’re now bringing this drop off service to our Concord and San Jose locations for our two day drive! PaintCare recycles leftover paint, stains, and varnish into concrete, fuel, or new paint, like the Visions paint you can find at ReStore. And, the container is recycled, too!

Clothing & Shoes ReUse with USAgain

If you’ve ever dropped off a donation at ReStore Oakland, you may have spotted our bright green USAgain collection bins! For our two day ReCycling & ReUse drive, we’ll be collecting clothing, shoes, accessories, and household textiles in reusable condition at all three of our locations. Not only will you save your old clothes from landfill, but every time a USAgain bin is full, a tree is planted!
