mattress recycling

Did you know that the foam, steel, wood, and cotton from old mattresses can be recycled and turned into everyday products? Up to 80% of an old mattress can be recycled!

The Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley ReStores have partnered with The Mattress Recycling Council’s Bye Bye Mattress Program to establish a permanent mattress drop-off location at the Habitat ReStore in Oakland.

No Mattress Pickups

Help ReStore save all those usable materials from a landfill by recycling your used mattress today! Just stop on by, drop your mattress with our staff, and we will take care of the rest!

  • Drop off up to five mattresses without appointment for free
  • An appointment is required to drop off 5 or more mattresses. To schedule a drop-off appointment, please call 408-712-5104

Hi, I’ve scheduled a pickup on July 2nd of a washer and dryer as well as a dining table. Can I include my mattress in that pickup? There is no option for a mattress donation in the list of options in the booking sheet.

      Hi Ira,

Unfortunately, we cannot pick up mattresses, but we do greatly appreciate your other donations.

      Thanks for asking!

    Hello
Is some one at the drop off to help with unloading mattresses?

      Hi Jessica,

We do not have a full time staff member at the unloading area, but if you are dropping off during our operating hours (Monday – Saturday: 9:30am to 5:30pm), there will likely be a volunteer to help you.

If there is not a ReStore team member at the unloading zone, feel free to leave your mattress in our mattress receiving area.

      Thanks for recycling with ReStore!
