Now it’s time to do something with your home décor, used furniture, and those old lamps that no longer spark joy. Now it’s time to donate to your Bay Area ReStore!

Donating to ReStore not only gives you a clear mind and  more space but it breathes new life into your donation while diverting it from the landfill. Best of all, your donation benefits Bay Area families by helping to fund Habitat for Humanity programs and developments with its sale proceeds.

What can I donate to ReStore?

Because we will resell your donation to raise money for Habitat for Humanity, we can only except donations that are new or gently used that meet our strong criteria. This means that we cannot accept that microwave that is damaged, broken, not working, missing parts, and rusted. Here is a list of what we donations we can accept and their criteria:

    1.  FURNITURE & DECOR
      Such as new or gently used a desk, dining table and chairs, a couch, coffee table, bedframe, dresser, shelves, or a rug that is…

      – upholstered furniture in good condition
      – complete dining sets
      We do not accept mattresses or box springs; however, we do recycle mattresses and box springs at ReStore Oakland
    2. APPLIANCES
      Such as a new oven or a gently used fridge, microwave, or grill that is…
      – less than 7 years old
      – in perfect operating condition with all necessary parts
      – near spotless inside and out
    3. TOOLS & MATERIALS
      Such as doors and door frames, windows, plumbing, fixtures, all new and never installed flooring, brand new lumber and construction materials, or hand and power tools that are…
      – undamaged and in near-perfect condition.

What can I not donate to ReStore?

Whether they are hunting for treasures or searching for bargains, we aim to provide all shoppers great quality items at a fraction of the retail cost. To do so, we keep our inventory changing and are unable to accept certain donations such as:

  • sofa beds
  • car seats, high chairs, strollers
  • entertainment centers
  • fireplaces
  • used lumber
  • cement or grout
  • recessed, brass, fluorescent, or track lighting fixtures
  • tv cabinets
  • custom cabinets
  • garage, oversized, or flat-panel hollow-core doors
  • aluminum windows
  • previously installed windows and interior doors
  • cast iron sinks & bathtubs
  • used flooring
  • bedding and linens
  • clothing
  • toys
  • electronics and e-waste
  • vertical blinds
  • play structures

Acceptability is at the discretion of ReStore drivers and donation staff.

How do I donate to ReStore?

Donate to ReStore by dropping off your donation at one of our three Bay Area ReStore location, or by requesting a pick up online!

Where can I drop off a donation to ReStore? Donation Drop Off

Visit a ReStore in Oakland, Concord, or San Jose during donation drop off hours, look for a “Donation Drop Off” sign, and drop your donation off with a ReStore staff member or volunteer.

Can I donate online?

YES! You may request a pick up from any resident in our service area by filling in a quick request form. In just 4 steps you’ll be decluttering your space while building affordable housing in the Bay Area!
  1.  Donation Details – Tell us about your donation and share photos of what you’d like to donate.
  2. Pick-up Date – Select a date for our ReStore drivers to come by for your donation. Keeping mind that we are unable to enter your home, so all items must be placed in a location that is at ground level and easily accessible by our trucks at the time of your pick up.
  3. Your Details – tell us about yourself!
  4. Appointment Review – check the details and confirm your appointment!
