Learn the basics of clothing mending & repair!
Lost a button on your favorite shirt? Found an amazing pair of secondhand jeans just a few inches too long? No need to toss those pieces aside!
Learn how to extend the life of your closet at our second Clothing ReUse & RePair Workshop at ReStore San Jose on Saturday, August 29th! This two-hour workshop will teach you sewing machine basics and useful skills including:

- Hemming

You’ll get hands-on practice and plenty of opportunities for Q&A in a small group setting. Materials and sewing machines will be provided, or you can bring your own sewing machine! If you attended our first workshop in May, please note that this workshop will cover many of the same skills and topics.

City of San José Zero Waste Innovations Grant
This workshop is funded in full by the City of San José Environmental Services Department’s Zero Waste Innovations Grant. The ZWIG Program supports creative, community-driven solutions that reduce waste while promoting sustainability and a circular economy. Textiles are one of the fastest-growing waste streams in California with over 1.2 million tons dumped annually.
Thanks to the ZWIG program, Habitat for Humanity ReStore is able to expand our existing reuse and recycling efforts to bring community-centered textile reuse solutions to the City of San José. Click here to learn more!
