Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore in Oakland is located on San Leandro Street, just a few blocks from the Oakland Coliseum. ReStore Oakland is a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, appliances, home décor, building supplies, and more at a fraction of retail prices!
All proceeds from ReStore Oakland fund Habitat for Humanity’s programs and services that empower thousands of Bay Area neighbors to achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance through housing. So, when you shop discounted home goods at ReStore Oakland, you shop with purpose.

how to donate to ReStore Oakland
When you donate to ReStore, you’ll feel good knowing you’re supporting Habitat for Humanity and our planet. By donating those used appliances from your recent home remodel, a couch you don’t have room for, or that office furniture your company no longer needs, you’re diverting usable materials from our landfills. In fact, ReStore donors diverted over 5,500 TONS of materials from landfills in 2021 alone.
- First, make sure your donation meets our donation criteria. To ensure we can provide ReStore customers with a diverse inventory of quality products at an affordable price, we have strict criteria for what donations we’re able to accept. ReStore accepts donations of used furniture, appliances, tools and building materials, lighting, and more. Donations must be in good condition meaning donations are not damaged, broken, rotten, or missing parts. Click here to read our full list of accepted items.
- Then, you can drop off your donation directly at ReStore Oakland from Monday to Saturday between 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., or request a donation pick-up!

ReStore Oakland partners with local and national organizations to make recycling easy and convenient!
- Mattresses & Box Springs: Mattresses are collected from ReStore Oakland by the Mattress Recycling Council to be broken down into separate materials like foam, wood, and steel for recycling. Over 75% of a single mattress can be recycled into new products!
- Paint: ReStore Oakland accepts latex paint, primers, stains, sealers, varnish, and more to be recycled through our partner PaintCare. These products are recycled into new paint, concrete, or fuel. Plus the container is recycled, too!
- Clothes & Shoes: Drop off gently used clothing and shoes at the USAgain bins to be reused or recycled. USAgain plants a tree every time a bin is full!
- Scrap Cardboard & Metal: For a small fee, ReStore Oakland will take your cardboard or metal to a local recycling plant.
