“Repurpose, reuse, recycle.” It’s the mantra of sustainable living and always an apt theme for celebrating Earth Day. Habitat EBSV invites you to celebrate Earth Day this year by visiting one of our four ReStore locations, where you can find unlimited ways to “repurpose, reuse, and recycle.”

Habitat for Humanity ReStore has been Earth Day friendly since we opened the doors of our first location in Oakland. In fact, the Alameda County Source Reduction and Recycling board believed so strongly in the impact the ReStore would make, it awarded the then Habitat Easy Bay with a grant to open the store in 2003. What makes the ReStore so green? It’s simple!

  • Reuse: From furniture to building supplies like flooring and cabinetry, you’ll find many items with plenty of life left in them and ready for a new home.
    ● Repurpose: With a continual inflow of inventory, you never know what treasure you’ll find next, whether it’s a table ready for re-finishing or pottery or ironwork ready for a new life in the garden.
    ● Recycle: Are you moving or remodeling? Redirect your gently used furniture and/or leftover building supplies to a ReStore near you — you get a tax deduction as well as the satisfaction of knowing that you’ve given a second chance to materials that might otherwise end up in a landfill. In fact, last year alone, we diverted 2,000 tons of reusable materials from landfills.

At a Habitat ReStore, every day is Earth Day!
